3-star '24 WR David Washington Jr. commits to Kentucky
Kentucky football has added its first wide receiver to the 2024 recruiting class.
On Saturday afternoon, three-star pass-catcher David Washington Jr. announced his commitment to the Wildcats. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect out of Philadelphia (PA) St. Joseph’s Prep School chose Kentucky over offers from the likes of Virginia, Louisville, Wisconsin, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Maryland, Penn State, Boston College, and West Virginia.
Washington is considered the No. 804 overall rising senior in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He is the 14th commitment for the Wildcats’ 2024 class.
Washington took just two official visits during the month of June: Virginia (June 2) and Kentucky (June 5). That was actually his second time in Lexington after taking a gameday trip to campus back in October when UK took down Mississippi State 27-17 at Kroger Field. He’s been primarily recruited by wide receivers coach Scott Woodward, who initially offered him back in June 2021.

Following his official visits to UVA and UK, Washington’s recruitment went mostly silent. He was reportedly scheduled to take a mid-June official visit to Wisconsin, although that wound up not happening. Instead, Kentucky remained quiet and it resulted in the staff pulling off a northeast recruiting win over a good list of schools.
During his junior season at St. Joseph’s, Washington was named a First-Team All-State wide receiver after recording 46 receptions for nearly 700 yards and six touchdowns. He also helped lead his squad to a 6A state championship, catching four balls for 123 yards in the title game victory over Harrisburg.
