3-Star Defensive Lineman Garrett Witherington Commits to Kentucky

Kentucky has secured a commitment from another versatile athlete in the trenches. Defensive lineman Garrett Witherington announced on Sunday that he has committed to Kentucky.
Witherington had an impressive list of suitors. Penn State, Mississippi State, Stanford, Georgia Tech, along with UK, made up the five hats on the table during his announcement ceremony. He took official visits to all five schools, ending his summer travel circuit in Starkville and Lexington. The trip to Kentucky put the Cats over the top of Mississippi State.
A 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive lineman from Birmingham (AL) Briarwood Christian, he’s a three-star prospect. On3 ranks him as the No. 64 defensive lineman in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 978 overall prospect.

Witherington plays all over the defensive line for Briarwood Christian. At his size, he looks like a disruptive 3-technique defensive tackle at the next level. Not many 290-pounders move as well as Witherington. Disruptive in the backfield, he easily moves down the line of scrimmage to blow up zone runs. With the right development, he can become a havoc creator in the middle of the Kentucky defensive line.

The Wildcats picked up a pair of defensive linemen this week. Witherington will join Austin (TX) Lake Travis’ Ben Duncum in Anwar Stewart’s position room. Each player shows an ability to play multiple positions on the defensive front line at Kentucky.
