3-star OL William "Woo" Spencer chooses Louisville over Kentucky

Kentucky football goes 1-for-2 on National Signing Day.
On Wednesday, the same day that four-star defensive lineman Kendrick Gilbert flipped from Purdue to the Wildcats, another highly-ranked lineman, William “Woo” Spencer, elected to go against Kentucky, landing with in-state rival Louisville instead. Spencer is considered a three-star prospect from the class of 2023. He was recruited by the ‘Cats to play offensive line, but an opportunity to play on defense with the Cardinals ultimately sealed the deal.
Spencer’s three finalists were Louisville, Kentucky, and Michigan State. He took a pair of visits to UL in January and saw the coaching staff stop in for a visit to close out the month.
A 6-foot-5, 315-pound interior offensive lineman, Spencer is the 36th-ranked player at his position and the No. 6 player from the state of Indiana, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Spencer spent the first three years of his prep career playing at 6A power Louisville Male High School. He moved across the river and transferred to New Albany High School for his senior season. Explosive on the defensive line, Louisville offered him the opportunity to play defense in college.
Kentucky now appears to be all set on its 2023 recruiting class after Spencer’s decision. The Wildcats currently have the 30th-ranked overall group of incoming freshmen in the nation, according to On3.
