BTI's Rants and Ramblings: UK's Forgotten NCAA Tournament Classics, Part 3

by:Bryan1303/17/21
This week I am trying to bring some joy back to this fanbase and remember some of the forgotten UK classic NCAA Tournament games.  The first two games this week came from the Tubby Smith era but today's game is absolutely one of my favorite games of the Calipari era and it came in Year 1.  The Sweet 16 battle against Cornell was, putting it frankly, borderline racist in it's coverage leading up the game.  Smart vs. dumb.  Organized vs. Unorganized.  Disciplined vs. Not.  All of the coded language was thrown out there when the Ivy League's best team in a decade took on UK's best team in decade in the Sweet 16 in Syracuse. And all UK did was smash Cornell.  It was so sweet to watch our guys outsmart and outplay Cornell.  They were no match for John Wall and Company and it became evident very quickly that this was a mismatch.  And knowing those smug writers who picked Cornell to take down our "undisciplined" Cats had to sit through a thrashing made it that much sweeter. So look back on better times and a game that isn't mentioned too often, UK's beatdown of Cornell from 2010. MONDAY: 1999, Kentucky over Kansas in overtime TUESDAY: 2000, Kentucky over St.Bonaventure in double overtime
