4-star '24 EDGE Jacob Smith schedules June official visit to Kentucky

Jacob Smith‘s twin brother, Jerod Smith, has already made his commitment to Michigan, but the former is still searching for his next home.
Jacob Smith is down to just six potential college options, which he announced on April 22. The finalists consist of Notre Dame, Michigan, Kentucky, Nebraska, Georgia, and Alabama. But only three of those schools have locked in dates to host him for an official visit. Smith will take a trio of OVs in June, going to Michigan first (June 2-4), then to Kentucky (June 9-11), and finishing up at Nebraska (June 16-18), he confirmed with KSR on Wednesday.
Considered a four-star recruit, Jacob Smith is the No. 226 rising senior in the country and the No. 17 overall EDGE prospect, per the On3 Industry Ranking. Although he currently plays his high school football at Chesire Academy (CT), the Smith twins are both natives of the Bluegrass State and played their first two high school seasons at Somerset High School before transferring to the northeast.
Looking at On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Michigan has the inside edge with Smith going into these official visits with a 62.8 percent chance. Notre Dame, which was at one time the perceived frontrunner, is in second with a 27.9 percent chance while Kentucky comes in third with just a 2.3 percent chance.
Jacob’s twin brother, Jerod, who committed to Michigan on April 25, will accompany him on his official visit to check out the Wolverines. The two were most recently in Ann Arbor for an unofficial visit on March 28. Previously, the Smiths have said they would “probably” play on the same college team, but recently, they have gone away from that idea as being set in stone.

The Smith twins actually began their high school careers playing in Somerset, KY before transferring to Connecticut ahead of their junior seasons. They received their offers from Kentucky all the way back in June 2021 and the two sides have stayed in contact ever since. Defensive coordinator Brad White is leading Jacob’s recruitment. He was most recently in Lexington for the program’s annual Junior Day in late January.
“That’s my home, I’ve been talking to them for a minute so I felt like they deserved it and they’re obviously an option,” Jacob told KSR about Kentucky in February after including the ‘Cats in his Top 10.
Smith joins a growing list of prospects expected to OV at Kentucky the weekend of June 9-11. Top 5 class of 2025 QB Cutter Boley and three-star class of 2024 OT Jordan Floyd will also be in Lexington during that time.
