4-star ATH Sequel Patterson has Kentucky among his group of finalists

Kentucky football is on a hot streak right now — they’ll need to turn it up another notch in order to land one of the best high schoolers in the country.
On Wednesday morning, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported that four-star athlete Sequel Patterson is down to just four college options: South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Clocking in at 6-foot, 170 pounds, the Indian Land (SC) product has been trending toward sticking with the homestate Gamecocks following his official visit to Columbia over the weekend. That being said, Patterson did not include Kentucky in his list cut from earlier this month, but the Wildcats are in the mix now and appear to have made up significant ground over the last 10 days.
Patterson, who recently reclassified from 2027 to 2026, is considered the No. 220 overall rising high school senior in the country and the No. 10 overall athlete by the On3 Industry Ranking. Kentucky co-defensive coordinator/defensive backs coach Chris Collins serves as his main recruiter.

Kentucky has been working hard to build up its 2026 recruiting class this month. The Wildcats have racked up 11 commitments this cycle, all of them popping in June, although there is a clear lack of blue-chip talent on board. Patterson would immediately give UK a prized commit if he ends up choosing the ‘Cats.
But unless Patterson extends his recruitment and schedules a visit to Lexington, this one feels like South Carolina’s to lose. It’s the only school he’s taken an official visit to thus far, and he told On3’s Chad Simmons on Monday that a decision is likely to come within the next couple of weeks. Patterson has been on the Gamecocks’ campus several times over the years for unofficial visits.
Maybe there will be a sequel to this recruitment one day down the road…
