4-Star TE Damarion Witten will visit Kentucky this weekend

One of the top tight ends in the 2024 recruiting class will see what the University of Kentucky has to offer. KSR has learned Damarion Witten will be in Lexington this weekend for an unofficial visit.
Witten, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound tight end, is a native of Cleveland, OH. He attends Glenville High School, a program Ohio State has consistently recruited. He’s been to Columbus four times already, but that is not deterring Vince Marrow.
“Me and Coach (Marrow) are close. He’s like a uncle to me,” Witten told KSR last week. “He’s 100 percent real all the time and he gives great advice. As a coach he’s awesome but as a person, he is the perfect coach, person to be around on and off the field.”
This is the first time Damarion Witten has visited Kentucky. He is the nation’s No. 22 tight end according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He’s just outside of the Top 300 as the No. 354 overall player in America.

Damarion Witten is not the only big-name tight end Kentucky is pursuing in the 2024 recruiting class. Last weekend Dylan Mesman, a Michigan native ranked as the class’ No. 25 tight end, took an unofficial visit to Kentucky. This week the Wildcats have offered scholarships to a pair of tight ends in the Greater Cincinnati area, Covington Cathholic’s Willie Rodriguez and Justin Kattus, the younger brother of Josh Kattus.
Because of Ohio State’s relationship with Glenville, who is coached by Tedd Ginn Sr., the Buckeyes are the early favorite in the recruitment of Damarion Witten. Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Penn State and Louisville are among the other schools in the mix. The talented tight end caught a 39-yard touchdown in the Ohio Division IV State Championship Game, helping the Tarblooders cap off an undefeated season.
Witten does not look like your prototypical Kentucky tight end. He has the size and strength to play in the trenches, however, he frequently lines up as a wide receiver in the high school ranks. Not only does he high point the football well, Damarion Witten is explosive in the open field. Enjoy big play touchdown after big play touchdown in his 2022 mid-season highlight reel.
