4-star wing Shelton Henderson hears from new Kentucky staff
As Mark Pope and his new coaching staff with Kentucky men’s basketball continue to settle in, they continue to reach out to the nation’s top high school prospects.
The latest to hear from the Wildcats? Four-star class of 2025 shooting guard Shelton Henderson, a 6-foot-6 wing out of Bellaire (TX) High School. On3’s Jamie Shaw reported earlier this week that it was assistant coach Alvin Brooks who made contact. Brooks was previously recruiting Henderson to Baylor prior to joining Pope’s staff in Lexington.
Henderson, a Houston native, is considered the No. 49 overall high school junior, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
So far, Henderson has yet to take any official visits but has been on unofficials to LSU, Houston, Texas A&M, and SMU over the years. He tells Shaw that the likes of Louisville, Texas, and Houston could receive official visits in the coming months, adding that those trips will likely come after Peach Jam, which is set for July 13-21. Southern California — now coached by Eric Musselman — is also in touch with Henderson.
