5-star '24 PG Boogie Fland includes Kentucky in Top 8
The top-ranked point guard in the class of 2024 is highly considering Kentucky as his college landing spot.
On Monday afternoon, On3’s Joe Tipton revealed that five-star rising senior Boogie Fland is down to eight finalists with the Wildcats making the cut. Joining Kentucky on Fland’s list are the likes of Alabama, North Carolina, UConn, Maryland, St. John’s (now coached by Rick Pitino), Michigan, and Indiana.
So far, the 6-foot-3 Fland, who is considered the No. 7 overall class of 2024 prospect in the country per the On3 Industry Ranking, has taken just three official visits: North Carolina, Michigan, and Indiana. However, he intends to take several more in the month of September, with expected stops at UK, Alabama, UConn, and Maryland.
“I’m planning on a visit to Kentucky in September,” Fland told KSR in June. “That’s when I felt I could get the full effect. We don’t want to rush anything, we want it to be perfect. With this new rule of one official visit (per school), you’ve got to make it count.
Fland, a Harlem (NY) Archbishop Stepinac product, has been recruited by Kentucky for over a year now. He was offered a scholarship by the staff in July 2022 and has since received multiple in-person game visits from head coach John Calipari.

“They got the No. 1 (recruiting) class this year, all those five-stars coming in,” Fland told On3 last month. “I’m pretty sure they’re going to develop them, and they’re going to win. They say they like that I’m unselfish and how I play within the team. They say they like how I lead, and they think I can come in and lead their program. You know what you’re going to get from me, and I know how to play with other special talents and let everyone eat.”
Playing his AAU ball this year on the Nike EYBL circuit for PSA Cardinals, Fland put together per-game averages of 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 steals across 17 appearances prior to Peach Jam. He shot 43.5 percent overall, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 77.5 percent from the line during that stretch. While Fland did struggle once Peach Jam came around, he’s still widely thought of as a top point guard option in high school basketball.
Fland is one of 13 recruits from the 2024 class that has annnounced an offer from Kentucky. So far, the Wildcats have just one commit locked in for that cycle: four-star center Somto Cyril.
Boogie Fland Scouting Report
Boogie Fland plays with a New York flair. He has a good handle and is able to shoot the ball from each level. He has deep range off the bounce and will pull up if you give him an inch. He sees the floor well, gets his teammates in evolved, and takes care of the ball, valuing possessions. There is a floater game in there as well, with a one and two dribble pull-up. He will need to continue getting stronger, and he is a solid athlete and has average length. The confidence is sky-high, and the skill set is obvious. He has a comfort playing on the ball or off the ball in a two-guard lineup. Never afraid of the spotlight. Charismatic. – On3’s Jamie Shaw
