5-star guard Jasper Johnson signs with Overtime Elite
Jasper Johnson will not be playing his final year of high school basketball at Woodford County, nor will he be reclassifying to the class of 2024. He is, however, going to a program that has been good to the Kentucky Wildcats in recent years.
The Lexington native has signed with Overtime Elite and will play in Atlanta for his senior season, following in Rob Dillingham’s footsteps a year ago. He previously played at Link Academy before making one final move ahead of college.
“OTE has a long list of elite guards, and Jasper is the next great addition to that list,” said Director of Recruiting Aki Collins. “He is as complete of a scorer as you can find with an impressive perimeter game, but is also extremely creative at getting to the basket and finishing. We couldn’t be happier to have a player as good as him, both on and off the court, playing at OTE.”
Johnson helped the USA U18 National team who took home the gold medal at the FIBA U18 AmeriCup. There, he averaged 10.0 PPG and 2.7 APG while shooting a team-best 42.3% clip from deep. The 6-5 guard also averaged 14.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest this summer on the Nike EYBL circuit.
“I’m excited to join OTE for my senior season to really take my game to the next level, getting the best training and competing with the best players in the country,” Jasper Johnson said. “Coming to OTE to develop puts me one step closer to achieving my dreams, and I can’t wait to get to work”

The five-star guard is nearing a college commitment, telling KSR a decision is expected “in the next month or so.” Alabama, Kentucky and North Carolina are trending as the top contenders going into the final stretch of his recruitment.
“(Figuring out) what’s the best fit for me. I know there are opportunities everywhere, so I’m just taking my time, being patient,” Johnson said. ” I’m going to talk to my family about it and see what’s the right fit for me. … Fit, being patient, praying about it and making sure that when it’s time, I’m making the right choice for me.”
We know his first move of the two major ones coming up in his basketball career. Picking a school is next.
