The latest recruiting update on Caleb Wilson will have the Big Blue Nation feeling even more optimistic about landing the five-star talent.

Multiple reports surfaced on Tuesday indicating that Wilson has canceled his official visit to Alabama, which was scheduled to take place this weekend. It will not be rescheduled. The 6-foot-9 power forward currently has just one more official on his calendar — a trip to Georgia Tech the weekend of Oct. 18 — but he’s expected to schedule more in the future before going into decision-making mode.

Wilson checks in as the No. 5 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The Atlanta native took his official visit to Kentucky back in September and the Wildcats have been trending as one of the frontrunners ever since.

Wilson canceling his Alabama visit is notable. He was previously on track to make a commitment sometime in the spring, but he’s recently said that the timeline could move up to this fall or early winter. Since the start of his senior season, Wilson has only OV’d at Kentucky and UCF with one coming to Georgia Tech. The likes of Tennessee, Arkansas, and North Carolina, among others, are also in the mix and could receive visits in the near future.

But the Wildcats and new head coach Mark Pope seemingly made a great pitch. Wilson enjoyed every aspect of his visit to campus, from the off-court activities at Kroger Field to watching practice and talking Xs and Os with the staff. He was able to meet with the current team and even some of the future Wildcats in 2025 commits Jasper Johnson and Malachi Moreno.

“It was a great visit,” Wilson told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+. “I had a whole bunch of fun. I felt like I was embraced by the team, the staff, and also the fan base. I like the Cats, man. I really like the Cats.”

I also have to mention Wilson’s friendship with four-star point guard Acaden Lewis, who is down to a final three of Kentucky, Duke, and UConn. Lewis is the No. 30 overall 2025 prospect. Soon after Wilson’s visit, the two (along with Johnson) were exchanging social media posts about linking up together at Kentucky.

There is still a way to go in this recruitment, but the Wildcats are in good shape at this stage. Wherever else Wilson elects to visit in the coming months will be telling in regards to the teams in true contention heading down the home stretch.
