5-star Kentucky target Caleb Wilson tells 4-star Kentucky target Acaden Lewis to 'come on over bro'
Two significant pieces of Kentucky men’s basketball recruiting news happened over the weekend.
The first was the official visit to UK for five-star class of 2025 power forward Caleb Wilson, who has been hearing more and more from head coach Mark Pope over the last couple of months. The Wildcats rolled out the red carpet for Wilson during his stay in Lexington, treating him to an incredible Kroger Field atmosphere on Saturday night. Wilson linked up with the current team, met with class of 2025 commit Malachi Moreno, and even took a picture with Olympic gold medalist Masai Russell.
By all accounts, Wilson’s official visit to Kentucky couldn’t have gone any better. The entire coaching staff met to greet him at Bluegrass Airport on Friday night.
The second bit of news came on Saturday afternoon when four-star class of 2025 point guard Acaden Lewis included Kentucky among his four finalists, joining UConn, Duke, and North Carolina. Lewis had high praise for the Wildcats in an interview with On3’s Joe Tipton, mentioning how he believes he would fit well alongside Kentucky’s other 2025 commit, Jasper Johnson.
Those two stories clashed with each other not long after Lewis dropped his Top 4. Wilson took to social media where he seemingly made a quick recruiting pitch to Lewis on Kentucky’s behalf, telling him to “come on over bro” under a graphic of Lewis’ top schools. Considering Wilson has yet to make a college decision, the timing of Wilson’s post certainly feels notable.
I’ll point out that Wilson’s Top 12 also includes North Carolina and Duke, so “come over bro” doesn’t exactly mean he’s talking about Kentucky. But we can’t ignore the context. Wilson sent the post while on a visit to UK. The staff has clearly prioritized Lewis on the recruiting trail (even more so than they already were) over the last week or two. You have to imagine they mentioned to Wilson how much they would like to land him and Lewis for the 2025-26 season.

“A lot of people saw the home visit they just did with me and everything. Their staff is doing an amazing job recruiting,” Lewis told On3 about Kentucky. “They’ve been super active being in film sessions with me. I like the thought of playing with Jasper Johnson to be honest. Two lefties is pretty lethal. So that’s pretty cool.”
To add some more fuel to the fire, soon after Wilson posted pictures from his UK official visit to Instagram, Lewis was in the comment section saying “I wanna play (with) this guy.”
Kentucky already has the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class with a pair of Top 25 commits in Moreno and Johnson, but Pope is getting greedy. He has the Wildcats in great shape with Lewis (No. 34 in the 2025 cycle) and continues to gain momentum with Wilson (No. 4 in the 2025 cycle).
