5-star PG Darius Acuff high on Kentucky's style of play, atmosphere: 'It was lit down there.'
Darius Acuff is considered the top-ranked point guard from the 2025 recruiting class. After taking an official visit to Kentucky back in the fall, he’s still high on the Wildcats.
“It was lit down there. I went down for Big Blue Madness,” Acuff recently told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “They’re a great school and have put a lot of players in the league. I’ve been doing my research on all the schools and I’ve seen all the guards they’ve had. They play my style of play and let their guards make plays. Their facilities were big and they definitely showed a lot of love when I was there. It was a great school.”
Acuff is considered the No. 8 overall high school junior in the country by the On3 Industry Ranking. The 6-foot-1 point guard out of Detroit, MI is one of 10 class of 2025 recruits who has publicly announced an offer from Kentucky. He’s also taken an official visit to Michigan and has one scheduled with Kansas, which begins on Tuesday.
Currently playing for national powerhouse program IMG Academy (FL) on Nike’s EYBL Scholastic Circuit, Acuff finished as the league’s second-leading scorer with 21.3 points per game. Across 12 total contests, he also chipped in 5.3 assists and three rebounds per outing while shooting 42 percent from the field, 36 percent from deep, and 73 percent from the free throw line.

Acuff tells On3 that he watches a lot of Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, and Trae Young, using them as models to craft his own game.
Along with Kentucky, Michigan, and Kansas, Acuff is being recruited by the likes of Texas, Houston, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Baylor, although the last two schools have yet to officially extend an offer. He intends to take more visits in the spring and summer before going into decision-making mode.
“I’m going to be looking for a program and a coach that is going to let me do me and let me rock out,” Acuff told On3. “I want to play with a coach who is going to teach me right from wrong and be there to support me. I’ve thought some about the pro stuff, I want to go to college though. Yeah, college for sure.”
