Karter Knox is the top-ranked uncommitted prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. He starts his official visit to Kentucky today, Friday, Jan. 19.

Knox, the younger brother of former Wildcat and SEC Freshman of the Year winner Kevin Knox, is a 6-foot-6 wing out of Florida who currently plays for RWE (Rod Wave Elite) at Overtime Elite. He’s down to just four options for the next level: Kentucky, Louisville, South Florida, and the NBA’s G League. The five-star is considered the No. 13 overall recruit in his class, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

After taking an official visit to Louisville in the middle of December, this trip to Lexington, which runs from Friday through Sunday, will be Knox’s final visit before making a decision. He’ll be in attendance for No. 8 Kentucky’s home game on Saturday night against Georgia.

David Sisk of Cats Illustrated was first to report the news.

UK head coach John Calipari currently has five 2024 commits locked in, four of them already signed (Billy Richmond committed after the early signing period). After fellow five-star VJ Edgecombe committed to Baylor last weekend, Kentucky is now turning its attention to Knox to round out the rest of the class. There is the potential for a couple of 2025 reclass options, but in terms of 2024 prospects, Knox is at the top of the board.

Knox’s trip this weekend will be his second official visit to Lexington, the first coming during Big Blue Madness in October 2022. He’s also taken two officials to Louisville and one to USF back in November 2023. His connection to Louisville is obvious, with head coach Kenny Payne having coached Kevin Knox while the two were at Kentucky (Payne an assistant coach, Knox a freshman). Additionally, another Knox brother, Kobe, is a redshirt sophomore at South Florida, which explains Karter’s relationship with the Bulls.

Calipari will look to lock down Knox this weekend. But keep in mind that Karter’s dad, Kevin Sr., told Sisk a commitment would happen “within the next 60 days.” A final announcement could still be a ways away.

Suiting up for RWE (4-6) this season, Knox has played in all 10 games. He’s averaging 21.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, two assists, and 1.2 steals in 30.9 minutes per outing. Knox is shooting 40.1 percent from the floor, 27.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 61 percent at the free throw line. He’s teammates with one of Kentucky’s 2024 signees, four-star center Somto Cyril.
