John Calipari is giving away scholarship offers to five-star recruits like pieces of leftover Halloween candy.

During an official visit to Kentucky over the weekend, five-star class of 2023 small forward Kwame “KJ” Evans Jr. announced through Twitter that he received an offer from the Wildcats. His trip began on Thursday and concluded earlier on Sunday. Evans was in Lexington to watch Kentucky beat Miles College on Friday night in Rupp Arena.

The 6-foot-8, 190-pounder will play his junior season of high school at Montverde Academy down in Florida. Evans was previously at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in Maryland. He’s ranked by On3 as the fourth-best player in his class.

Evans continues a recent trend by Kentucky head coach John Calipari. The man in charge has brought a handful of high-profile recruits to campus over the last several weeks, all of them receiving offers if they didn’t already have one.

Along with Evans, Calipari has now offered class of 2023 five-stars D.J. Wagner, Mackenzie Mgbako, J.J. Taylor, Mookie Cook, and Robert Dillingham. Four-star Kentucky native Reed Sheppard has also hauled in a UK offer. Every single one of them has been on UK’s campus in the last month.

Evans is the son of Kwame Evans Sr., who is one of the all-time great hoopers in the history of the George Washington Men’s Basketball program. The elder Evans is a 2014 Hall of Fame inductee for the school, winning 78 games across four seasons that saw three NCAA Tournament appearances and a Sweet 16 berth in 1993. He ranks fifth all-time on GW’s scoring list.
