A small Kentucky town had its water shut off after getting behind on the bill
The Covering Kentucky team over at LEX 18 reported on an interesting story in Livingston, Kentucky, a small town in Rockcastle County about an hour south of Lexington. According to LEX 18, the City of Livingston had its water shut off earlier this week, then a boil advisory the following day. Why? Because the city got behind on its water bill.
Livingston Mayor Sandi Singleton pointed to the previous administration, saying they left the city with $89,000 of debt tied to Woods Creek Water District. Singleton also told LEX 18 that the city has been paying off the debt for nearly two years, with a payment as recent as last month.
On Tuesday, the Livingston Kentucky, Trail Town Community Facebook page posted, “Our Supplier has shut water off to Livingston due to the past due from previous administration. We are currently working with the Division of Water, Judge Executive, PSC, and all other entities to resolve this issue. We ask you conserve water while we work to resolve this issue.”

A Thursday update tells another story, claiming that the shut-off is not a billing issue. “No issue of The City Of Livingston NOT paying a bill, but an issue with American waters choice to shut down the pumps,” the post reads.
Whatever the case, let’s get those pumps pumping again at Ford Hollow. And maybe consider auto pay on those bills so this doesn’t happen again. The fine folks of Woods Creek need their water.
