Abby Steiner claims National Runner of the Week honor
If you don’t pay super close attention to some of the Olympic sports at the University of Kentucky, you probably aren’t familiar with Abby Steiner. The senior is an elite sprinter for the track and field team.
On Tuesday, Abby Steiner was named the USTFCCCA Women’s Athlete of the Week and the Southeastern Conference Women’s Runner of the Week after a huge weekend at the Joe May Invitational at LSU.

During the event, Steiner clocked in at 10.92 seconds in the 100m, and that time was a school record. Meanwhile, her 200m sprint (22.38) was the second-longest in program history. Steiner locked up the fastest time in the NCAA this season.
The veteran is a rising star who is putting together an all-time season.

The outdoor track season is off and running, and the Wildcat host the Kentucky Invitational on April 22 before heading to Ole Miss for the SEC Championships from May 12-14. Expect some more honors to come Abby Steiner’s way as the Dublin (Ohio) Coffman alum is putting together a historic year on the track.
