Abby Steiner Sets a New Record in a New Event
Kentucky track and field athletes are conquering record books in a variety of events. Abby Steiner is proving that she’s not just a one-trick pony.
Saturday afternoon Steiner competed in the Millrose Games, the world’s premier indoor track and field competition celebrating its 115th anniversary. The Kentucky Wildcat and Puma athlete competed in the 300-meter dash and broke the American record with a time of 35.54 seconds, a little more than .2 seconds faster than the collegiate record she set a year ago.
Steiner also holds the American Indoor record for the 200-meter dash at 22.09.
Following her sensational 2022 season, Abby Steiner became the first University of Kentucky athlete to win The Bowerman, the Heisman of college track and field. The speedster from Dublin, Ohio, made her mark by setting four different collegiate records. She holds the collegiate-best mark in the 300-meter, the indoor and outdoor 200-meter and was a part of the Wildcats’ record-setting 4×400 relay team.
Which record will Abby Steiner break next?
