One suitor has been cut from the list for top-30 recruit Acaden Lewis — one of Kentucky’s top recruiting targets in 2025. Meanwhile, the four-star guard will be taking an official visit to check out a fellow finalist and blue blood rival this weekend.

The nation’s No. 30 overall prospect and No. 5 point guard out of Washington, DC is down to just three schools: Duke, Kentucky and UConn, removing North Carolina from contention. The 6-2, 185-pound senior has also scheduled a trip to Durham for Countdown to Craziness — the Blue Devils’ annual season tipoff event.

On3’s Joe Tipton reported the news, adding that Lewis will take an official visit to Kentucky before making a decision by the Early Signing Period in November.

Where do things stand with the Wildcats as Lewis turns toward decision mode?

“They’ve been cool and been recruiting me hard. Jasper (Johnson) was at this camp (John Wootten Top 150 camp) so he did a little recruiting,” Lewis told Dushawn London of 247Sports. “Their message is similar, they say I can come in and have the opportunity to play. People are leaving next season so it’s a good opportunity.”

The four-star guard added that UConn has a “great coaching staff, atmosphere and energy” while Duke is doing a “really good job” led by Jon Scheyer and he’s “excited to see how everything looks” during his second-to-last visit coming up this weekend.

From there, Kentucky will get the final official. Can Mark Pope close?

Scouting Report

“Acaden Lewis is a crafty lefty, able to utilize and array of hesitation dribbles and changes of space to get to his spots in the half-court. A lot of Lewis’ play is with his left hand, oftentimes using his right hand to set up his left. He looks to score the ball when the ball is in his hands. He has range that extends well beyond the arc. He is confident from deep and has footwork to create clear space with various side steps and step backs. Lewis can be a half beat late on passing reads in the half-court. He needs to tighten his shot selection, keeping his head up when running an offense. Lewis has a nice floater in the paint and can knock down a pull up jump shot. Defensively, he has quick hands and solid anticipation, but his results can be spotty, especially with quicker or bigger guards. There is a smoothness to his game and Lewis has put up some big numbers, and what he has in spades is confidence.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
