Big news for Alabama: star freshman point guard Collin Sexton will only have to sit out one game for his role in the college basketball bribery scandal. Sexton will have to miss the Crimson Tide’s season-opener vs. Memphis tomorrow, but will be eligible Tuesday night vs. Lipscomb.

Sexton’s eligibility was in question because he was recruited by Alabama basketball administrator Kobie Baker, who accepted bribes from Rashan Michel and a cooperating witness to steer players to using their services in the NBA. According to the indictment that came out earlier this week, Sexton’s father met with Baker and Michel. Sexton also had a relationship with former AAU coach Christian Dawkins, who was also arrested and named in a separate complaint in the FBI probe.

Simply put, it looked like things could be really bad for Sexton, but the NCAA had decided otherwise, which is huge news for not only Alabama, but also SEC basketball because he’s really, really good.
