Stop the game right now! Kentucky is on the board first vs. No. 1 Georgia thanks to Alex Raynor. Raynor hit a 55-yard field goal to put the Cats up 3-0 with 2:45 to go in the first quarter. That’s the longest field goal in Kentucky Football history, surpassing Austin MacGinnis’ 54-yarder vs. Tennessee in 2014.

The moment had to be especially cool for Raynor, a native of Kennesaw, Georgia, who started his college career at Georgia Southern. During an appearance on KSR earlier this week, Raynor said that he grew up cheering for Florida State, not the Bulldogs, but his sister currently attends UGA. She is at Kroger Field with his family tonight, cheering for her brother and the Cats.

Now in his second season at Kentucky, Raynor has made 13 of 14 field goal attempts. Last year, he ranked third in the SEC in field goal percentage (10-of-11 for 90.91 percent), which was a new UK career and season record. Now, he’s got another record to his name.

After one quarter of play, Kentucky leads the Bulldogs 3-0. Georgia’s 32 yards of offense are the fewest the Bulldogs have had in the first quarter of a game since 2019. Keep it up, Cats!
