It’s move-in day.

Kentucky Women’s Basketball should have the entire 2022-23 roster in Lexington by the end of the weekend. All 10 of the Wildcats’ newcomers are expected to arrive on Thursday with the remaining players coming in by Saturday. Kentucky head coach Kyra Elzy added six rookies and four transfers during the offseason.

Kentucky is coming off a 2021-22 season that saw the program win its first SEC Championship title in 40 years. The year got off to an undeniably rocky start before a 10-game win streak saved the season and propelled the ‘Cats into the NCAA Tournament. An offseason filled with significant roster turnover would follow, though. UK fell victim to four transfer portal losses (three of them starters) while Rhyne Howard — the school’s second-all time leading scorer — was selected with the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft.

But Elzy and her staff reloaded, bringing in a six-woman recruiting class that includes a trio of four-star prospects. She also used the transfer portal to her own advantage, bringing in four immediate impact players, highlighted by South Carolina’s Eniya Russell and Oregon’s Maddie Scherr.

The roster includes five players born and raised in the state of Kentucky, two of them former Miss Kentucky Basktball winners (Maddie Scherr 2020; Amiya Jenkins 2022).
