Iowa lands commitment from Robert Morris transfer Alvaro Folgueiras

A very busy Sunday in the sports world continued into the night during Wrestlemania when one of the top available players in the transfer portal came off the board. Kentucky transfer target Alvaro Folgueiras is headed to the Big Ten.

Former Drake head coach Ben McCollum is building quite a first team at Iowa. The Robert Morris transfer will be a Hawkeye.

Alvaro Folgueiras averaged 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists on .548/.413/.748 shooting splits in the Horizon League. The big helped lead Robert Morris to the NCAA Tournament and gave Alabama legitimate scare in a No. 2 seed vs. No. 15 seed game. Kentucky was a name involved with Folfueiras early but then ultimately went in a different direction after this recruitment started to linger.

The skilled big from Spain will join a Iowa team that has added seven other transfers highlighted by star point guard Bennett Stirtz. The potential All-American has followed McCollum to Iowa City from Drake.

Do not be surprised if the Hawkeyes are a trendy preseason pick in the Big Ten.
