There wasn’t a whole lot of good to take away from Kentucky’s 19-point loss to North Carolina. Kentucky shot just 35% from the field overall and 29% from three-point range. But what was one of the positives from Thursday night? Amelia Hassett‘s performance.

In 37 minutes of play, the JUCO transfer put up 13 points on 4-9 (4-8 3PT) shooting while also grabbing 13 rebounds along the way. It was her first double-double of the season, and more importantly, it was a very good sign for Kenny Brooks and his team moving forward.

Brooks thought that Hassett was the best player on the floor for Kentucky against the Tar Heels, even if she could have been a little bit better.

“She battled,” Brooks said postgame. “She was I guess the brightest star — no one really played well, and she would be the first to admit that there were some things that, schematically, she wasn’t locked in on a couple of plays. Everyone was like that. But she did battle, she did rebound the basketball, she had a couple of threes for us to keep us within striking distance, but we could never get over the hump.”
