Georgia Amoore was back to doing Georgia Amoore things against Queens

Georgia Amoore had a bit of a letdown game against North Carolina, only scoring 10 points after going 0-6 from the field in the second half. However, she refused to make it two bad games in a row against Queens.
The 5-foot-6 point guard had 20 points against the Royals, shooting 5-12 (3-7 3PT) from the field. She may have only had four assists on the night, but part of that was Amoore looking to be more aggressive offensively.
“I love what Georgia did tonight. I love what Georgia has been doing,” Brooks said of his mini-me postgame. “What she’s been able to do for us, she’s been a facilitator. As a matter of fact, she’s been the best facilitator in the country. She’s leading the country. So, you can’t facilitate and score. She and I have been talking a little bit, and I think she’s been worried about making sure everyone else is good. She made it more of a conscious effort today to be a little bit more aggressive offensively, and that was my pregame talk to her. She comes over to me before every game, and I said, you gotta be more aggressive early. I even let her pick the first play.”
It’s taken time for Amoore to build chemistry with her teammates, but it’s a work in progress, and it’s improving.
“Her assists went down a little bit today, but she stepped up and she was more aggressive on the offensive end,” Brooks continued. “So, she’s learning just like everybody else. Although she knows me, knows what I want, she doesn’t know any of her teammates, and just trying to get that chemistry with each and every one of them. It’s just a work of progress. She tried it one way. We went to a different way. Now, there’s going to have to be a balance, where she’s still facilitating, but she’s also scoring. She had a couple great passes tonight — they were really good. Got some people open, but she was just more aggressive.”

Even though it has taken some time to get things clicking as a team, Amoore remains calm and poised, even in the heat of a frustrating moment, and that’s what Brooks like the most about his point guard.
“What I love about her too, she’s not hitting the panic button,” Brooks explained. “She knows it’s going to be a work in progress, and we’re still 8-1. Even after the game the other night, it’s like gloom and doom, but we had to remind ourselves we were 7-1, we’re 8-1. Polls came out today. We were No. 16, you know? So, we’re still in a good position, and we’re still working through it.”
Brooks continued to praise Amoore, who is nearing a significant milestone scoring-wise.
“I think she’s been phenomenal this year, more so than any, and I think I was alerted, she’s 12 points away from 2,000 points. Assists, [she’s] over 700 probably pushing 800 assists now. That’s a remarkable player, and so she’s only going to continue to get better as she gets more and more comfortable.”
