Georgia Amoore HAS to find offensive rhythm if Kentucky is going to reach its potential
The beginning and end of what Kentucky will do this season is Georgia Amoore. Coming into the North Carolina game, the former All-American was averaging 15.0 points per game, but the efficiency hadn’t been there. On the year, she was making just 35.9% of her shots and only 24.5% of her three-point attempts.
Needless to say, it’s been a bit of a slow start to the year for Amoore, and that was unfortunately the case again on Thursday night.
At the half, Kentucky was down 36-25, but Amoore had 10 of the team’s points on 4-6 shooting. It seemed like she was destined for a big night against the Tar Heels, but those 10 points were all she had on the night. After starting 4-6, she would finish the game shooting 4-12 (0-5 3PT) from the field.
Kentucky has been able to beat inferior competition, even with Amoore’s offensive woes, but as we saw against the Tar Heels, that can’t be the case against the good teams.

The next team on Kentucky’s schedule is Queens — a team that is currently 4-3 with the following losses:
- 62 points to Wake Forest
- 17 points to Winthrop at home
- 14 points to Longwood at home
Obviously, you play the games for a reason, but Kentucky should be able to cruise to a win over the Royals come Monday night. Georgia Amoore needs to take a step in the right direction by not only being able to put up some points, but to do it efficiently as well.
Kentucky is only going to go as far as Amoore will take them.
