Kentucky and Michigan going head-to-head for high school recruiting target is not a new development. The Wolverines have won a few. The Wildcats have won a few. Now another matchup has arrived.

DMV defensive back Andre Clarke Jr. is down to two schools following his official visits, according to On3’s Chad Simmons. Kentucky and Michigan are battling for the top-200 prospect.

Simmons Scoop: Key visits lead to top programs picking up momentum for top targets

“Michigan is in a great spot for Andre Clarke after his official visit to Ann Arbor,” Simmons explains. “Kentucky is the competition and he will commit on June 30. He visited both schools over the last two weeks and after the Wildcats made a strong impression.”

Kentucky hosted the four-star prospect for an unofficial visit in April. Defensive coordinator Brad White also visited Clarke in Virginia. The defensive target was in Lexington from June 6-8 for his official visit. However, Michigan got the last official visit (June 13-15). Does that give the Wolverines a edge?

SMU and Syracuse also got official visits from Andre Clarke Jr. but this one is yet another SEC vs. Big Ten battle. The Cats will now attempt to close one of the highest-ranked players on their recruiting board.
