The Twins are back! Eleven years after Andrew and Aaron Harrison announced they were returning to Kentucky for a sophomore season, they announced they will run it back with La Familia, Kentucky’s alumni team, for The Basketball Tournament (TBT). The twins join fellow former Cats Willie Cauley-Stein, DeAndre Liggins, and Doron Lamb on the squad, which will host the Lexington Regional July 18-22 at Memorial Coliseum.

Last summer, the twins helped lead La Familia to the TBT semifinals. Andrew Harrison averaged 11.6 points per game and channeled his brother when he hit a game-winning three-pointer against The Ville, Louisville’s alumni team, during the Elam Ending in the quarterfinals. Aaron Harrison averaged 7.0 points per game, hitting three or more three-pointers in multiple games.

The twins were part of one of the most heralded freshman classes in Kentucky Basketball history, leading the Cats to the Final Four in both seasons (2013-15). Aaron hit game-winning threes in the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, and Final Four of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, averaging 12.4 points per game in his two seasons. He was signed by the Charlotte Hornets as an undrafted free agent, and spent two years with the organization before playing briefly with the Dallas Mavericks in 2018 and moving overseas to play for Galatasaray in the EuroLeague. He has since played for multiple teams across Europe, most recently playing professionally in Mexico.

Andrew Harrison averaged 10.1 points and 3.8 assists per game at Kentucky before being drafted No. 44 overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 2015 NBA Draft and being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. He spent three seasons in the NBA, making 129 appearances with the Grizzlies before brief stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans. His best season came with the Grizzlies in 2017-18, where he averaged 9.5 points and 3.2 assists per game. After leaving the NBA, Andrew played for multiple teams across Europe and Asia, most recently for Yalovaspor in Turkey.

The winner of the Lexington Regional will advance to TBT’s quarterfinals on July 29. The semifinals will be held on July 31, and TBT’s $1 million championship will be played on Aug. 3.
