Andrew Harrison joins La Familia, the Kentucky Alumni TBT Team
The BBN will be wrapped in a warm blanket of nostalgia when the TBT tips off later this summer in Lexington. Another former Wildcat star is joining the Kentucky alumni team, La Familia, point guard Andrew Harrison.
One of the most celebrated recruiting wins of the John Calipari era, the BBN entered a fervor when Andrew and his twin brother Aaron announced their commitment to Kentucky on ESPN. “Keep Calm, the Twins are Coming” t-shirts were worn at the McDonald’s All-American Game as fans dreamed of a 40-0 season.
That did not happen right away, but it almost happened the following year. Excitement around the BBN reached an all-time high when the Harrison Twins announced they would return for a second season following a National Championship loss to UConn. KSR went live for a special afternoon edition of the show, with a big voiceover guy returning from a commercial break saying, “Before they split defenders, they split a zygote. The Harrison Twins return.”
The 6-foot-6 point guard from Richmond, TX led Kentucky to back-to-back Final Fours in 2014 and 2015 in which he averaged 10.9 and 9.3 points per game, respectively. The stats don’t necessarily back it up for the Platoon Squad, but Harrison was outstanding as a sophomore, using his size and physicality to make plays at the rim. He was a member of the 2015 All-SEC tournament Team after scoring 15 points in back-to-back games to cut down the nets in Nashville.
Harrison was a second round selection by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2015 NBA Draft. He stayed in the league for four years, then spent time bouncing back and forth between the G League and international leagues. He most recently played in the top basketball league in Turkey.

In addition to Harrison, late last week we learned former Kentucky center Daniel Orton will join the La Familia TBT team. The only Billy G commitment that stuck around to play for John Calipari, he was taken in the first round of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. The 7-footer hung around the G League until 2016 when he began his professional career abroad.
The $1 Million winner-take-all TBT tips off Regional play at Rupp Arena on Friday, July 19. Make sure you secure your tickets to see the former Wildcats play in their old Kentucky home.
