There is no news more important than the news that Ansley Almonor has decided to join La Familia in The Basketball Tournament.

A fan favorite, Kentucky’s dagger-thrower in wins at Mississippi State and Tennessee this past season, the now-former Wildcat becomes Mark Pope’s first player on UK’s alumni squad. He was confirmed as the latest addition on Monday, joining new commitments Doron Lamb and DeAndre Liggins in the event.

“What’s up, BBN? I’ll be coming back to Lexington this summer for La Familia. I’ll see y’all soon,” Almonor told BBN Tonight. ” … I already miss playing in front of BBN and I already miss the city of Lexington, so I can’t wait to go out there and represent you guys one more time.”

Willie Cauley-Stein and the Harrison twins are both back, as well.

Sean Woods, an Unforgettable and the new head coach at Scott County, has been named head coach this year after serving as an assistant last summer under Tyler Ulis.

La Familia will host the Lexington regional at Memorial Coliseum July 18-22. Last year, the squad won the Lexington regional and made it all the way to the semifinals. The winner of the Lexington Regional will advance to TBT’s quarterfinals on July 29. The semifinals will be held on July 31, and TBT’s $1 million championship will be played on Aug. 3.

Tickets for the Lexington Regional are now on sale at TBTHoops.com/tickets.
