Antonio Reeves, Jacob Toppin receive invite to NBA G League Elite Camp
The wait continues for Kentucky guard Antonio Reeves as he tests the NBA Draft waters — one that will last at least through next weekend.
Reeves, along with former Wildcat Jacob Toppin, have both been invited to the NBA G League Elite Camp held from May 13-14 in Chicago. The two Kentucky standouts are among 47 total invitees to the two-day event. Top performers in the camp will receive an invite to the NBA Draft Combine, set to begin May 16, also in Chicago.
The initial list of participants was reported by Adam Zagoria of ZAGSBLOG.com.
Reeves declared for the NBA Draft back on April 4 while maintaining his eligibility, leaving the door open for a potential return to Kentucky.
“First of all, I want to thank God because none of this would be possible without Him. I also want to thank my family for their unwavering support. My time at Kentucky has been everything I dreamt it would be,” Reeves announced. “Coach Cal and the staff pushed me to become a better all-around player and my teammates and I created bonds that will last a lifetime. I want to thank Big Blue Nation. You are the best fans in the country and we felt your passion all season long and everywhere we went.
“I’ve spent time thinking about what’s best for me and my future. I’ve determined that testing the waters and getting information back from the NBA is the best thing for me at this time. I’ve always dreamt of becoming a professional basketball player, and I am focused on fulfilling that dream but I’m keeping my options open.”

Reeves averaged 14.4 points during his first season in Lexington. He will have until 11:59 p.m. ET on May 31 to pull his name out of the draft and keep his eligibility.
“Antonio is utilizing the rule in place of testing the waters exactly as he should,” John Calipari said at the time. “Scoring is a premium and Antonio can score on all three levels and showed growth as a player on both ends. I’m excited to see what kind of feedback he receives.”
As for Toppin, the senior forward declared for the draft back on March 31, forgoing the remainder of his eligibility and officially ending his time as a Wildcat. He finished his final season at Kentucky averaging 12.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 31.5 minutes per contest.
Things remain wide open, though, for Reeves. A huge upcoming week for his basketball future and some much-needed clarity on the Kentucky roster for 2023-24.
