The accolades continue to pile up for #AllAmericanAntonio ahead of postseason play, this time one final weekly regular season honor before Kentucky heads down to Nashville for the SEC Tournament. Antonio Reeves has been named The Associated Press National Player of the Week in men’s basketball for Week 18 following a pair of wins over Vanderbilt and Tennessee, hitting the 20-point mark in each.

Reeves beat out Purdue’s Zach Edey for the honor, while North Carolina’s Cormac Ryan, Houston’s L.J. Cryer and Dayton’s DaRon Holmes II were named honorable mentions.

Reeves’ honor comes on the heels of a 27-point, seven-rebound effort in the Wildcats’ win over the Volunteers in Knoxville. He also went for 20 points, six rebounds and four assists against the Commodores on Senior Day. Those marked his sixth and seventh straight games of at least 20 points, the most by a Kentucky player since Jamal Murray did it 12 consecutive times in 2015-16.

The fifth-year senior was named AP First Team All-SEC and Third Team All-America by Sporting News on Tuesday while earning First Team All-SEC honors by the league’s coaches on Monday. At 20.2 points per game, he is Kentucky’s leading scorer on the year and the leading scorer by averaging under John Calipari in Lexington. Reeves has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and 20-plus points in 19 games, combining for 1,115 career points at Kentucky for the third most by a player in a two-year span in program history behind only Bill Spivey (1,213) and Oscar Tshiebwe (1,117).

Ranked No. 9 in the latest AP Poll, the No. 2 seed Wildcats take on Ole Miss or Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday night in Nashville.

Hopefully Kentucky returns home with more team hardware to match the individual honors rolling in for the Cats.
