No surprise here. Antonio Reeves was named the Most Valuable Player for his 30-point performance in Kentucky’s win over Louisville. The Bluegrass Sports Commission picked Reeves for its MVP trophy in what we can only imagine was an easy selection for the committee. Reeves scored 22 points in the first half.

With his new trophy belt, Reeves joins Josh Harrellson, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, James Young, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyler Herro, Tyrese Maxey, Jacob Toppin, and current UK assistant coach Tyler Ulis as MVPs of the Battle of the Bluegrass under John Calipari’s watch.

Reeves’ new hardware can go on the shelf next to his 2022 Big Blue Bahamas and 2023 GLOBL Jam MVP awards.

The 30 Club

By hitting the 30-point mark against the Cards, Reeves became only the fourth Kentucky Wildcat to score at least 30 points against Louisville. He hit 10 of 16 shots from the field, four of five from outside, and averaged a point per minute while cementing his legend status in the rivalry.

With four more points, Reeves would’ve matched Derrick Miller’s record 34 against Louisville in 1988. Kenny Walker (32) and Tony Delk (30) are also in Kentucky’s 30 Club against Louisville.
