Antonio Reeves named Third Team All-American by Sporting News
One down, three more to go for #AllAmericanAntonio.
On Tuesday morning, The Sporting News released its All-American teams for the 2023-24 men’s college basketball season. Kentucky’s fifth-year senior guard Antonio Reeves was tabbed to the publication’s Third Team. The former Illinois State transfer becomes the 13th All-American under head coach John Calipari during his tenure in Lexington.
The Sporting News is one of the four “major” NCAA-recognized All-America teams that the NCAA uses for its consensus All-America teams. The other three are the Associated Press, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Through 31 regular-season games (all starts), Reeves averaged 20.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game on shooting splits of 50.7 percent overall, 44 percent from deep, and 88 percent from the line — all career highs. He’s on pace to become just the second-ever player under Calipari to average at least 20 points per game in a single season (Jamal Murray; 2015-16).
Reeves currently has 1,115 career points across his two seasons after Kentucky. He’s only two points away from surpassing Oscar Tshiebwe for second all-time in terms of points scored during a two-season span at UK. Depending on how far Kentucky goes in the postseason, it’s possible that Reeves moves into first place and breaks Bill Spivey’s two-season record of 1,213 points.
