Antonio Reeves one of 15 players named to Wooden Award national ballot
Antonio Reeves is in contention to win National Player of the Year.
On Saturday morning during ESPN’s College Gameday, the 2024 John R. Wooden Award national ballot was announced. Among the 15 student-athletes who cracked the list of candidates for the Wooden Award All-American Team and Wooden Award Trophy, Reeves was one of four Southeastern Conference players selected, the most of any conference.
Voting will run from March 18-25. The finalists for the 2024 Wooden Award will be revealed on April 2. Kentucky has produced two Wooden Award winners in the accolade’s 48-year history: Anthony Davis (2012) and Oscar Tshiebwe (2022).
Heading into Saturday afternoon’s regular-season finale against No. 4 Tennessee (4:00 p.m. EST on CBS), Reeves will look to become just the second player in the John Calipari era to finish a season averaging at least 20 points per game. Only Jamal Murray (2015-16; 20.0 PPG) has been able to accomplish that feat. Reeves is currently averaging 20.0 points per game on shooting splits of 50.7/43.5/87.9.

Across his two seasons in Lexington, Reeves has registered 1,088 total points. The former Illinois State transfer has hit or exceeded the 20-point mark in 18 of his 30 games played this season, including the Wildcats’ last six outings. Only once this season has he failed to reach double-figures — a nine-point performance in a win over North Carolina all the way back in December.
Reeves is also one of five finalists for the Jerry West Award, handed out to the nation’s top shooting guard. He’s been tabbed to the USBWA Oscar Robertson/All-America watch list and the Naismith Trophy watch list, as well.
