Yes, the Associated Press named Antonio Reeves an All-SEC First Team performer last week, but snubbing him from the All-American list is something we simply can’t condone.

The AP unveiled its 2023-24 men’s college basketball All-American teams on Tuesday. Absent from the three teams was none other than Reeves, who was instead tabbed as an Honorable Mention.

The Kentucky shooting guard was actually the first player left off the Third Team. Reeves received 52 votes (tied with Kansas’ Kevin McCullar Jr.), which was just short of Illinois’ Terrence Shannon Jr., who finished with 54 and picked up the final Third Team spot.

Reeves, who was selected to Sporting News’ All-American Third Team last week, is just the second-ever player (Jamal Murray) during the John Calipari era at Kentucky to average 20 points per game. The fifth-year guard is right at the 20-point mark on efficient shooting splits of 50.8/44.1/86.9. In 32 games played this season (all starts), Reeves produced 19 outings with at least 20 points and just one in single-digits.

But somehow, that wasn’t enough to crack the AP’s Third Team (looking at you, Baylor Scheierman).
