In the SEC, it just means more. Right now, that means more people are jealous of the league’s greatness. What does that have to do with Rhode Island coach Archie Miller? Let me explain.

There were 10 SEC teams in Monday’s AP Top 25 Poll. With a few days left in January, 14 of the league’s 16 teams have spent at least one week in the AP Poll. That’s a record.

The advanced stats paint an even rosier picture of the league. Bracketologists project that at least a dozen or more SEC teams will be in the NCAA Tournament. The SEC is the talk of the college basketball world and the haters are sick of it.

There are groups of college basketball fans who are willing to go to great lengths to create a discourse that combats the SEC’s dominance. That eagerness to tear down the league inspired a bit of humor that went completely over the head of one Archie Miller.

Jacob Pickle is an Alabama fan with less than 2,000 followers on Twitter who wanted to poke fun at the haters. The following post got some serious run on social media.

“Only 54-54? Can you believe it!?!?!? The SEC really is overrated.”

That was the instant reaction from many of the haters. A normal human with a brain understands that there is a winner and loser in every single SEC game. Even if you had to think twice just to be sure, the math is the math. That’s how it works.

Here’s the thing, Archie Miller didn’t take the time to do the math. He fell for the joke, hook, line, and sinker. Not only did he fall for it, he passed off the stat while trying to prove a point in a press conference.

The head coach of the 13th-place team in the Atlantic 10 is correct. It is hard to win any game, especially when your coach doesn’t understand basic math.
