Arkansas beats LSU to advance to SEC Tournament semifinals
It’ll be No. 8 seed Texas A&M vs. No. 4 seed Arkansas tomorrow for a spot in the SEC Championship. The Razorbacks beat the No. 5 seed LSU Tigers 79-67 in the second game today at Amalie Arena.
Sadly, this game wasn’t nearly as entertaining as the one before it. LSU had some momentum towards the end of the first half, but a technical foul on Will Wade allowed the Razorbacks to turn the tide. Chris Lykes’ free throws gave Arkansas the lead and a shot at the buzzer by Lykes made the score 29-26 Razorbacks at the half. They never trailed again and led by as many as 17 with 14:23 to go. LSU cut the lead to nine with five minutes left, but five straight points from Lykes pushed Arkansas’ lead back to a comfortable margin.
So, Aggies vs. Razorbacks tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET. The teams split the series this season, with A&M winning in College Station 86-81 and Arkansas winning in Fayetteville 76-73 in overtime. Can Texas A&M keep winning to get off the bubble or will the Muss Bus be too much?
While we wait to find out, here’s the box score and some photos of the action from Dr. Mike:
