Arrest warrant issued for Walter McCarty after missed court date
It has not been a good year for Walter McCarty. Almost one year after his Evansville Purple Aces upset Kentucky at Rupp Arena, a warrant has been issued for his arrest for failure to appear in court.
According to the Courier & Press, McCarty has defaulted on two loans, resulting in two lawsuits and a debt of over $125,000. After failing to appear in court in one of the lawsuits back in August, a show cause order was issued, but McCarty did not show up to his hearing this morning, hence the arrest warrant. Police in Indiana are now directed to arrest him in plain sight. Oof.
This is just the latest problem for McCarty, who was fired by Evansville amid a Title IX investigation in January and allegations that he sexually assaulted a female student. According to Evansville president Christopher Pietruszkiewicz, an external investigation “behavior contrary to the core values of the university,” and “persistent and troublesome facts regarding Mr. McCarty’s conduct, including attempts to improperly influence witnesses in the investigation.” McCarty’s last known address is Lincoln, Massachusetts outside Boston.
