Ashton Hagans will play for Cleveland in the NBA Summer League
Ashton Hagans has a shot at making another NBA roster. The former Cat’s agent tells Chris Haynes that Hagans will play for the Cleveland Cavaliers in this year’s NBA Summer League with hopes of scoring a training camp invite.
Hagans is currently a free agent. The former SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year went undrafted in 2020 and eventually signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Hagans spent last season with the Raptors 905, Toronto’s G-League affiliate, averaging 10.8 points, 6.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per contest.

At Kentucky, Hagans averaged 9.4 points, 5.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game over two seasons. He earned SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors alongside LSU’s Tremont Waters in 2018-19 and was a two-time SEC All-Defensive Team member. In April, he returned to Lexington to sign autographs and take pictures with fans at City Cuts Barbershop.
The 2022 NBA Summer League tips off July 7-17 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas. Hagans and the Cavaliers will be in action starting Friday, July 8. As we get closer, expect to hear more former Cats’ names pop up as participants.
