Ashton Hagans signs 10-day contract with Portland Trail Blazers
Welcome to the show, Ashton Hagans. In the midst of a career season in the NBA G League, the former Cat is getting the call-up to the big leagues, signing a 10-day contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Hagans had been averaging 15.3 points, 9.6 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 31.4 minutes per game with the Blazers’ G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix. Now, he’ll be joining former Kentucky guard (kind of) Shaedon Sharpe in Portland.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news Thursday afternoon.
Hagans has suited up in just two NBA games in his career, both with the Minnesota Timberwolves back in the 2020-21. He played four total minutes and didn’t accumulate any stats.
With the Blazers now 14th in the Western Conference with a 15-35 record and the team dealing with a number of injuries in the backcourt — including Sharpe, who is dealing with a lower abdominal strain — there is a chance Hagans gets the first real minutes of his NBA career.

It’s good timing considering the former Cat was the No. 1 vote-getter by the fans to play in the G League Up Next Game during NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis next weekend.
That game will take place on Sunday, February 18 at 1:30 p.m. ET at G League Park in NBA Crossover at the Indiana Convention Center. That event will stream live at nbagleague.com, the G League App, on the NBA G League’s YouTube channel and the NBA App.
28 NBA G League players made the cut, which will feature a tournament-style format. Among those players? Oscar Tshiebwe, who Hagans will team up with on Team EYL. Skal Labissiere was also named to the event, playing for Team BallIsLife.
