Film Room: Austin Ramsey
Kentucky went nearly a month without a football commitment, but that ended on Monday when three-star offensive lineman Austin “House” Ramsey pledged to the Wildcats. Offensive line coach Zach Yenser has recorded his first recruiting win since joining the program in February.
The three-star prospect took spring semester visits to Boston College, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and West Virginia. Both Miami and Nebraska had issued offers. However, the Wildcats got Ramsey on campus for an official visit this past weekend and were able to lock in a commitment.
What will the big offensive lineman bring to the table? Let’s step into the KSR Film Room to find out. Austin Ramsey is a player with size, length, and mass that plays with very good effort.
Finding a real height on Ramsey can be hard to find but it seems that this is a prospect between 6-4 and 6-7 at 360 pounds as a rising high school senior with a wingspan that is near seven-foot. That is a good frame with plus length, but movement ability will be the question. The Philadelphia (Pa.) Roman Catholic prospect appears to have that box checked.
As Ramsey climbs to the second level, the left tackle does a good job re-adjusting to get his hands on the linebacker which equals immediate movement. As the play develops, the lineman looks for additional work and unloads on a safety that enters his space. Agility, hands, and power are all flashed here in one rep. This is a prospect with some tools.
Under Yenser and offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello, the ability to move and get off the snap will be key attributes as Kentucky leans into the wide zone scheme. Despite being very big, Austin Ramsey flashes some impressive get off.
On the down block, Ramsey does a very good job exploding out of his stance and strikes with heavy hands on the punch. The pad level will need some work, but this is a prospect with power and burst.

At the end of the day, offensive line players at the next level must have the strength to move big people off of their spot. Austin Ramsey flashes this raw power consistently.
Despite being a tackle in high school, Austin Ramsey feels like a natural fit at guard for the college level. The three-star recruit has great size and displays power but also shows good feet on tape. Ramsey plays with a good effort level and does a solid job of finishing blocks.
After dipping into Pennsylvania to land Tyreese Fearbry last recruiting cycle, Kentucky returned to the area in 2023 to score a solid offensive line recruiting win. After offering Austin Ramsey in October, Kentucky worked efficiently to get the prospect on campus for an official visit and close the deal.
Pass protection will be a question to answer moving forward, but his long arms should help with that. The newest commitment is a big man with some intriguing traits that could allow Kentucky to bully ball opposing SEC defenses with size at the point of attack.
