The transfer portal isn’t quite closed for business. That won’t be until Dec. 28. At least one player decided to make his big announcement today. Former Ball State cornerback Myles Norwood committed to South Carolina for his final year of eligibility, picking the Gamecocks over the Cats, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Prior to announcing his decision, Norwood officially visited Louisville, South Carolina, and Kentucky. The Cats got the last visit and were one of two finalists, but there isn’t much room at the inn.

Kentucky already received one transfer portal commitment from a cornerback, former Maryland Terp Kevis Thomas. For those keeping track at home, the Wildcats have 11 cornerbacks on the roster. Kentucky must replace Maxwell Hairston, who’s departing for the NFL Draft, but it needs to come from one of these guys:

Kentucky signed 14 players from the transfer portal prior to the holiday break. The Cats are still in the market for a left tackle. There are some other needs (X-receiver, EDGE) that could also be addressed later in the process as well. The dead period ends Jan. 1 and that’s when the silliness will resume.
