Mark Pope Talks Kentucky's First Practice

Multiple Kentucky players will reach a massive milestone over the next two days in New York City when they hear their names called during the 2024 NBA Draft. Rob Dillingham, Reed Sheppard, Antonio Reeves, and Justin Edwards are all ready to start their professional basketball journey in hopes of signing a big contract down the road. That big contract is on the way for a former Kentucky star.

Former Kentucky big Bam Adebayo is on the verge of signing a massive three-year extension worth over $160 million with the Miami Heat.

Bam Adebayo just finished year seven in the NBA where the 26-year-old averaged 19.3 points and reeled in a career-high 10.4 rebounds in 71 games on .521/.357/.755 shooting splits. The versatile center made his third All-Star team in 2023-24 along with first-team All-Defensive accolades after four consecutive years of being selected to the second team. The former No. 14 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft has become a key cog in South Beach.

The Miami Heat reached the NBA Finals twice in 2020 and 2023 with Bam Adebayo playing a big part, but this past season ended in the first round of playoffs dropping a series to the Boston Celtics in five games playing without Jimmy Butler. Miami will be looking for a bounce-back year in 2024-25. Adebayo will play a critical role, and the Kentucky product will do that with an extended contract.
