Batcats Drop Series With No. 6 Ole Miss in Game Two Rout, Back at it Today for Game Three
Via UKAthletics
Things got ugly pretty quick last night in Oxford, Mississippi for Gary Henderson and the gang. With Dustin Beggs, the anchor of the Kentucky weekend rotation, trudging his way through 4.1 innings allowing 9 runs on 14 hits, and relatively no signs of life from the Kentucky lineup until the game was well out of hand, the Wildcats (29-22, 13-13) got dropped Game 2 to Ole Miss (38-13, 16-10) 14-2. Here's the box score and a few notes from the contest/looking forward to Game 3 this evening. Kentucky:Hitting:

Offensive bright spots. Evan White extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single to right in the top of the sixth. Gunnar McNeill drove in both Wildcat runs on the evening as well, giving the junior DH a team-high 37 RBI through 51 games. After that, well...things weren't so great. Dustin Beggs (8-2) has been dominant all year, but, after allowing a pair of home runs in the bottom of the first to give Ole Miss a 3-0 lead, you had the feeling this wasn't going to be his night. If the Kentucky offense responds with a run or two to force the issue early, maybe Beggs finds his stride to help keep the team within striking distance. After the Rebels strung together hit parades in the bottom of the fourth and fifth (with the Wildcat bullpen unable to stop the bleeding), though, there's really not much hope when you're looking at an 11-1 deficit on the road. A chance to head home with a win. Kyle Cody (5-2, 3.86 ERA) will take the mound for the Cats at 5 p.m. this evening in the final game of the series. He'll face Ole Miss freshman RHP James McArthur (5-1, 3.35 ERA). If I'm Gary Henderson, I'm trying to the lineup as fired up as possible welcome the first-year to the SEC and give Cody some breathing room when approaching the dangerous Rebel offense so the Batcats can head back to Lexington with a least one W to show from the road trip. That'll do it for right now.
