We had some mixed results on Sunday for our former ‘Cats in the playoffs as both games resulted in the series being evened up. Let’s take a closer look.

Sunday’s Results

(1) Heat 108 @ (4) 76ers 116 | Series tied 2-2

(1) Grizzlies 101 @ (4) Mavericks 111 | Series tied 2-2

Maxey and 76ers tie up the series in Philly

The outlook around Philly is starting to look vastly different than it was just a few days ago. Joel Embiid is taking his turn at trying to pick up voodoo magic from the black mask, putting up 24 points and 11 rebounds in the 76ers’ win.

Sunday though marked the at least semi-return of James Harden. The lead guard has been struggling throughout the postseason and we finally got some vintage Harden we’re all used to seeing. The lefty nearly put up a triple-double, posting 31 points, nine assists and seven rebounds on the night. He also went 9-10 from the charity stripe to help his numbers.

Tyrese Maxey showed once again why he’s becoming a playoff player. The numbers weren’t overwhelming, but the guard still had an efficient night on the floor. Maxey put up 18 points on 5-10 shooting while playing his usual tenacious defense.

Struggles continued on Sunday for our former ‘Cats donning a Miami Heat jersey. Tyler Herro is still trying to get back in to rhythm. The Sixth Man of the Year went 4-12 from the field with a 1-5 mark from deep. He finished with a double-double, recording 11 points and 10 boards, but it’s clear that Herro is not playing his best basketball.

Bam Adebayo at least played a better game this time around. The big man finished with 21 points and seven rebounds on 9-12 shooting from the floor. This series is heating up and I don’t think it would shock anyone if it had to go seven games.

Booker leads suns but fall short late

The Phoenix Suns just absolutely adore getting into competitive series, huh? After letting the Pelicans scoop up a couple of games against them in the first round, they now see themselves tied up with the Mavericks after a 10-point loss on Sunday.

Devin Booker led the way for Phoenix, pouring in 35 points on 10-22 shooting while also dishing out seven assists in a team-high 43 minutes of action.

Booker’s performance won’t even be remembered from Sunday. All focus will be on the continued rivalry of Chris Paul and referee Scott Foster. Paul had four fouls in the first half, fouling out with only five points early in the fourth quarter.
