Yet another star-studded night for the former ‘Cats in the association last night as Anthony Davis and Devin Booker highlighted some of the best performances on Sunday. Let’s dive in.

Anthony Davis carries Lakers over Spurs

Is Lebron holding the Lakers back from winning another title? I’m only somewhat serious when I ask that. Anthony Davis continued his scorching hot streak by posting 34 points, 15 rebounds and six assists in the 114-106 win over Keldon Johnson and the Spurs. The next closest Laker in scoring was Talen Horton-Tucker with 17. The signs are still a little too early to fully jump in on this take, but if these types of nights continue for Anthony Davis, this is going to be his team much sooner rather than later.

AD wanted to make this clear right from the jump. Davis dropped 19 points on 2-2 from deep in the first quarter alone and gave the Lakers a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Malik Monk dropped in 16 off the bench to help lead the second unit in scoring.

We can’t forget the efforts of our guy Keldon Johnson either. Nobody is stopping Anthony Davis right now, but Johnson sure is trying. Sitting as the de facto number one option on this team, Keldon only keeps impressing. Against the Lakers, Johnson led the Spurs with 24 points on 9-18 shooting with a scoring 6-9 line from deep. The Spurs themselves are not very good yet, but Keldon Johnson sure is.

Booker drops 26 in blowout win over Rockets

The Suns kept rolling last night as they won their eighth straight game overall, beating the lowly Rockets 115-89 in Houston. Although it wasn’t the greatest shooting night he’s had, Devin Booker was up to his usual antics as he poured in 26. Along with shooting 9/23 from the field and 3-7 from deep, Booker grabbed five rebounds and dished out eight assists.

As almost everybody expected, this Suns team doesn’t seem to be bothered by a Finals hangover from last year. Devin Booker is now an elder statesman of the organization at the sprouting age of 25. Sitting at 9-3 now, Devin Booker and Phoenix are in prime position to defend their Western Conference title once 2022 rolls around.

Shai continues to shine in loss to Brooklyn

Brooklyn’s two biggest stars, Kevin Durant and Patty Mills lead the Nets in scoring just as everyone predicted. Durant dropped 33 while Mills had 29 off the bench in the 120-96 win over Oklahoma City.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, on the other hand, did all that he could once again for the now 5-7 Thunder team. Shai was right at his overall scoring numbers last night, ending up with 23 points on 8-14 from the field and 3-6 mark from deep. He also added in six rebounds and two assists in the game.
