BBNBA: Anthony Davis records double-double in another Lakers loss

There isn’t another team in the league whose misery I relish wallowing in more than the Los Angeles Lakers. Then again, there are few players I enjoy cheering for more than Anthony Davis, so it creates quite a schadenfreude conundrum.

Sunday was a good balance of a solid Anthony Davis outing and a Lakers loss, so we’ll call it a good day. In fact, one of the chief frustrations Lakers fans had during the game was the lack of touches Davis received in the second half, as the Brow only had two shot attempts after halftime.

Davis finished the game with 19 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and a block for the Lakers, but his team fell to the surprisingly stellar Cleveland Cavaliers to drop to 2-7 on the season. After the game, Davis said, “We’re not the team that our record shows. But any given night our team can play very well and explode… I know teams fear us, for sure. We’ve just got to continue to apply pressure.”

Again, I love AD, but fear is not exactly the term I would use. More like eagerly anticipate.

The Lakers’ other Kentucky alum, Wenyen Gabriel, chipped in four points and four rebounds of his own.

John Wall and LA Clippers fall to Vanderbilt-less Utah Jazz

John Wall continues to look for a rhythm back in his return to basketball after nearly two years of sitting out. On Sunday, he once again came off the bench for the LA Clippers, posting a modest stat line of 12 points and six assists, however, he pulled out a few old-school moves, looking like the John Wall of old in the fourth quarter with a behind-the-back left-handed driving layup. It turned out to be too little too late, however, for the Clippers, as they lost to the Utah Jazz 110-102.

His Halloween costume was on point, though, so there’s that.

After making another 3-pointer on Friday night, Jarred Vanderbilt missed Sunday’s game for the Utah Jazz due to adductor soreness. If you are wondering what an adductor is, Dr. Google says it is a muscle that helps rotate the thigh. That sounds important, so hopefully, Vando recovers quickly, and sitting out this game was only a precautionary measure.

Finally, if you were planning on using, “Sorry, I have to watch the NBA,” as an excuse not to vote on Tuesday, you’ll need to come up with something new. In an effort to promote ballot box attendance, there will be no games on Tuesday. Instead, every single team in the league will play Monday, spaced out in 15-minute increments, no less.
