BBNBA: Bam Adebayo Drops 30+ in Second Consecutive Game
The Miami Heat have been an up-and-down team all season.
After coming out victorious in Monday night’s matchup against the LA Clippers, the Heat boosted their record to 20-18 — a little over .500. There seems to be a common denominator in Miami’s success: they ride or die by Bam Adebayo.
In 27 games that Adebayo has scored fewer than 28 points, the Heat are 11-16. In the seven games that Bam has scored more than 28 points, the Heat are 7-0. Bingo.
Bam scored 30+ points in consecutive games for the second time this season, dropping 31 points and 13 rebounds on Monday. Tyler Herro scored 23 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Bam has been playing on an All-Star level lately, averaging 22.8 PPG and 10.7 RPG over his last 14 games. When Bam is on the floor, the Heat sport a 110.7 defensive rating, good for a top-five mark in the league. The Heat needs these performances from Bam if they want to avoid the Play-In Tournament. Miami currently sits seventh in the Eastern Conference.
Julius Randle Stays Hot, Scores 28 in Route over Suns
Julius Randle has been on an absolute tear.
Over his last 14 games played, Randle is averaging 29.4 PPG and 12.4 RPG. He’s ninth in the entire NBA in PPG over the last 14 games and third in the NBA in RPG over that span. Elite, elite stuff from the former All-American.

In last night’s victory over the Devin Booker-less Phoenix Suns, Randle dropped 28 points and a whopping 16 boards on 7-18 shooting. After being inserted into the starting lineup, Immanuel Quickley poured in 15 points on 6-12 shooting.
The Knicks have been a mystery this season, looking like the best team in basketball at times. After winning eight consecutive games from December 4-December 20, they immediately dropped five in a row from December 21-December 29. The Knicks are currently eighth in the Eastern Conference and will be fighting for a playoff spot over the next few months. They will need more performances like this from Randle if they want to go back to the playoffs.
Other BBNBA Notes:
- Keldon Johnson scored 22 points and grabbed four rebounds in San Antonio’s 139-103 loss to the red-hot Brooklyn Nets. Johnson is averaging 21.5 PPG and 4.9 RPG in 33 games this season.
- Monday night marked Tyrese Maxey‘s second game back from a foot injury that kept him out from mid-November to late-December. The former SEC All-Freshman scored 12 points in the 76ers’ 120-111 victory over New Orleans.
- Former Louisville guard Donovan Mitchell scored 71 points (the most in the NBA this season) in Cleveland’s 145-134 OT victory over the Chicago Bulls. Mitchell’s 71 is good for eighth in NBA history in points scored in a single game, one more than Devin Booker’s 70 that was scored in 2017.
