With 8:03 remaining in the Suns-Heat matchup Monday night, the Suns led 102-89.
In the final eight minutes, Bam Adebayo single-handedly outscored the Phoenix Suns 12-10 and led the Miami Heat to a thrilling 113-112 victory.
The Tyler Herro-less Miami Heat stole the game from the Suns, hitting eight of their last 12 shots. Phoenix, however, missed 12 of their final 16 shots: not a recipe for success.
After Miami took a 109-107 lead on a Kyle Lowry 3-pointer, Devin Booker responded with a three of his own, putting Phoenix ahead by one. On Miami’s next possession, Adebayo followed up a Lowry missed layup with a putback to put Miami back in front. After Phoenix regained the lead again, Adebayo was fouled by Suns center Deandre Ayton with 35 seconds remaining. Bam made both of his free throws to put the Heat ahead by one.
The Suns then had three shots for the win in the final 13 seconds, but all three were unsuccessful. With 6.2 remaining, Booker’s 15-footer was blocked by Heat All-Star Jimmy Butler. After tracking down the ball, Booker missed a turnaround 3-pointer for the win.
During Miami’s three-game winning streak, Bam has been averaging 24 points and 13 rebounds per game. The former ‘Cat is playing at an elite level right now.

Gilgeous-Alexander Leads Thunder in Scoring Again, Fall to Celtics Late
The Oklahoma City Thunder are 6-8 in 14 games played this season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has led the young Thunder in scoring in 12 of their 14 contests, averaging a ridiculous 31 points a game. This is good for seventh in the entire league. He has scored 30 points in nine of his 13 games played this season.
SGA is blossoming into an All-NBA talent in front of our eyes, as it seems he has taken the next step to NBA stardom.
Gilgeous-Alexander shined once again Monday night, scoring 37 points and dishing eight assists in a 126-122 loss to the 11-3 Boston Celtics. Near the end of the third quarter, SGA sent Celtics guard Derrick White to the floor with an ankle breaker that set NBA Twitter ablaze.
Other BBNBA Notes
- The Charlotte Hornets snapped their eight-game losing streak Monday night thanks in part to P.J. Washington‘s 14 points on 6-13 shooting. Rumors swirled earlier on Monday that the Hornets were discussing a contract extension of around four years, $50-52 million with Washington. P.J. is reportedly seeking $20 million annually, so this situation will be worth keeping an eye on.
- TyTy Washington Jr. made his NBA debut Monday night for the Houston Rockets just one day before his 21st birthday. TyTy scored one point on 1/2 shooting from the free throw line in four minutes of action.
